The Vancouver Sun reports in its Thursday edition WestJet Airlines says one of its operations executives is leaving the company in July to return to Denver to be with his family. A Canadian Press dispatch to The Globe says WestJet chief executive officer Gregg Saretsky describes departing Cam Kenyon as a "skilled and valued leader" who exemplifies the airline's corporate culture. Mr. Kenyon has been WestJet's executive vice-president of operations during a period when the airline has been preparing to launch its Encore regional service. He joined the Calgary airline in January, 2011, and will leave on July 20. Mr. Kenyon says that commuting between his job and his home has been difficult since his family decided to return to Denver last June. "I am regrettably leaving a company I love at a time when there are so many exciting initiatives underway," Mr. Kenyon said in a statement. Meanwhile, the Financial Post reports that news of Mr. Kenyon's departure comes amid some operational issues at the airline, in particular, its on-time performance, which has slipped in recent quarters. WestJet shares closed Wednesday at $21.40, down 37 cents on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
