Discussion of results
A total of 8,035 metres in 15 new holes including AP-12-116 to AP-12-130 are reported, completing 30,000 metres of drilling from this year's 45,000-metre drill program. Results from an additional 5,000 metres of drilling are pending from the laboratory, and drilling continues with four rigs on site. The results reported include new exploration drilling in the southwest quadrant and a series of infill drill holes required for this year's delineation program. The delineation drill program results, including the infill drill holes reported, are sufficient to advance to the initial resource now scheduled for the end of calendar year 2012. Final scheduling of the resource estimate is dependent on the receipt of continuing engineering and metallurgical studies. Mineralization at Ana Paula still remains open in several directions, including at depth. New exploration and higher-density delineation drilling will continue into the 2013 exploration year, along with a program of scoping and optimization studies.
Delineation drill results
The results presented are from infill holes targeting the lower-grade mineralized corridor that trends north and south from the high-grade breccia zone. Typical for the target type, each drill hole intersected multiple gold mineralized intervals that are separated by barren intervals as highlighted in the relevant table. AP-12-117, 118, 119, 121, 122, 124 and 130 are infill holes in the delineation drill program that intersected lower-grade mineralization. AP-12-123 and 125 are infill holes that were added as a follow-up to the results reported on Sept. 13, 2012. These holes intersected stronger mineralization over multiple intervals throughout most of their drill length.
Drill holes AP-12-118 and 125 both ended in mineralization. Drill hole AP-12-127 tested an area of stronger silver mineralization located in the northeast quadrant and provided infill in that area as well. Drill hole AP-12-129 is a new step-out hole in the southeast quadrant that is 200 metres south of previous drilling. Some of the better intersections from this series include the results below.
AP-12-117 intersected 10.8 metres of 0.65 g/t Au and 6.2 g/t Ag. AP-12-118 intersected 8.28 metres of 0.54 g/t Au and 8.8 g/t Ag, 30.7 metres of 0.6 g/t Au and three g/t Ag, and at the bottom of the hole 8.8 metres of 0.93 g/t Au and 4.3 g/t Ag.
Drill hole AP-12-119 intersected 12 metres of 0.49 g/t and 8.5 g/t Ag. AP-12-121 intersected 9.3 metres of 0.55 g/t Au and 1.8 g/t Ag, 13.42 metres of 0.91 g/t Au and 3.5 g/t Ag, and 9.82 metres of 1.15 g/t Au and 4.4 g/t Ag.
Drill hole AP-12-122 was mineralized from 32.72 metres to 334.33 metres, including intersections of 13.57 metres of 0.6 g/t Au and 4.7 g/t Ag, 13.4 metres of 0.5 g/t Au and 1.1 g/t Ag, 50.66 metres of 0.44 g/t Au and 1.2 g/t Ag, 24.8 metres of 0.41 g/t Au and 1.8 g/t Ag, 17.77 metres of 0.42 g/t Au and two g/t Ag, and 8.45 metres of 0.61 g/t Au and 4.1 g/t Ag.

Additional intersections include 5.3 metres of 0.62 g/t Au and 2.2 g/t Ag, five metres of 0.86 g/t Au and 2.6 g/t Ag, and a 9.38-metre interval of 1.06 g/t Au and 1.6 g/t Ag.
AP-12-124 intersected 4.2 metres of 0.41 g/t Au and 2.4 g/t Ag, and 4.3 metres of 0.35 g/t Au and 10.9 g/t Ag.
AP-12-125 intersected mineralization over most of its drill length, including 0.48 g/t Au and 21.3 g/t Ag over 28.42 metres starting at 5.35 metres from surface. Other intersections in this hole include 26.07 metres of 0.59 g/t Au and 1.6 g/t Ag, 9.13 metres of 0.72 g/t Au and 0.6 g/t Ag, and 15.36 metres of 7.92 g/t Au and 3.8 g/t Ag that includes a 0.52-metre interval of 190.06 g/t Au and 12.1 g/t Ag. AP-12-127 intersected 8.5 metres of 0.32 g/t Au and 7.07 g/t Ag, 3.8 metres of 0.08 g/t Au and 14.54 g/t Ag, and 7.65 metres of 0.11 g/t Au and 22.33 g/t Ag that includes 0.74 metres of 0.53 g/t Au and 97.0 g/t Ag.
Drill hole AP-12-129, testing the outside edge of known mineralization, was arguably the least mineralized of the series and is a step-out hole located over 200 metres south of previous drilling. Drill hole AP-12-129 shows that mineralization still remains open to the south, intersecting 2.3 metres of 0.52 g/t Au and 8.9 g/t Ag, 6.95 metres of 0.3 g/t Au and 8.7 g/t Ag, and 2.13 metres of 0.54 g/t Au and 23.3 g/t Ag.
AP-12-130 intersected mineralization over most of its length, including 7.27 metres of 1.3 g/t Au and 31.1 g/t Ag that includes a 0.3-metre interval of 7.75 g/t Au and 102 g/t Ag, and a 1.33-metre interval of 2.84 g/t Au and 103 g/t Ag. Another intersection of 5.92 metres of 1.91 g/t Au and 3.2 g/t Ag includes a 1.11-metre interval of 8.92 g/t Au and 10.1 g/t Ag. An additional intersection of 10.9 metres of 1.16 g/t Au and 2.3 g/t Ag includes a 1.15-metre interval of 8.77 g/t Au and 4.4 g/t Ag, and a 20.29-metre intersection of 0.64 g/t Au and 1.1 g/t Ag.
Southwest quadrant -- exploration drill program
Drill holes AP-12-116, 120, 126 and 128 tested several widely spaced targets in the southwest quadrant that are part of a series of new exploration holes testing the contact zone between highly altered sediments and an altered and mineralized intrusion that outcrops in this area.
AP-12-116 was collared in the southeast quadrant and drilled west into the southwest quadrant that intersected a new gold and silver mineralized zone to the west of the main Ana Paula deposit. AP-12-116 intersected silver mineralization from 7.5 metres to 61.9 metres that includes 31.3 metres of 0.07 g/t Au and 24.1 g/t Ag, and 19.3 metres of 0.05 g/t Au and 19.1 g/t Ag. Gold and silver intersections in this hole include 21 metres of 0.74 g/t Au and 7.1 g/t Ag, 33.8 metres of 0.34 g/t Au and 10.1 g/t Ag, and 13.2 metres of 0.82 g/t Au and 7.6 g/t Ag.
Intersections in AP-12-120 include 2.1 metres of 0.64 g/t Au and two g/t Ag, 2.97 metres of 0.39 g/t Au and 8.3 g/t Ag, and 1.28 metres of 0.88 g/t Au and 1.8 g/t Ag. Drill hole AP-12-126 did not intersect significant mineralization.
AP-12-128 was another interesting intersection from this series with high silver as well as gold values, including one metre of 0.02 g/t Au and 96 g/t Ag, and 5.66 metres of 0.1 g/t Au and 25 g/t Ag that includes a 0.74-metre interval of 0.53 g/t Au and 97 g/t Ag. Another intersection is 5.14 metres of 0.93 g/t Au and 17 g/t Ag that includes a 1.03-metre interval of 2.64 g/t Au and 25.1 g/t Ag. The longest intersections are in AP-12-128, which includes 12.63 metres of 0.33 g/t Au and 9.1 g/t Ag that also includes a 1.1-metre interval of 1.09 g/t Au and 23.9 g/t Ag, and an intersection of 10.37 metres of 0.1 g/t Au and 16.5 g/t Ag. AP-12-128 is located on the westernmost contact of the intrusion that outcrops in this area, and results from this hole suggest another mineralized corridor may exist in this area. New exploration drilling will continue to follow up these results.
The Ana Paula project is central to Newstrike's 88,000-hectare mineral claims located in the Guerrero gold belt, and forms part of a district-scale mining camp that is host to Torex Gold's advanced Morelos project and to Goldcorp's producing Los Filos mine.
Quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC)
Newstrike maintains strict QA/QC protocols for all aspects of its exploration programs that include the systematic insertion of blanks and standards into each sample batch. SGS laboratories or ALS Chemex performed assay analyses reported in this release. All samples are assayed using the respective laboratory-certified and industry-standard assay techniques for gold, multielement packages and overlimits. Gold was analyzed by 50-gram fire assay with an atomic absorption finish, and other elements were analyzed by multielement inductively coupled plasma (ICP) packages.
The reported mineralized intervals in core tend to be separated by barren intervals that may or may not contain narrow anomalous sections and local high-grade spikes that are not included in the calculations of mineralized intervals. Unless specified otherwise, reported intersections are calculated according to a protocol that uses a cut-off of 0.2 g/t Au for bounding assays. Reported grade intervals are based on the original uncut assay certificates as received from the assay labs. They do not include check assays pending at the time of reporting.
The dip of the geology and the mineralized intersections vary across the property, and the true widths are not accurately known at this time. True width can be expected to be equal to or smaller than the reported intervals.
