Canaccord Genuity Corp. and one of its senior investment advisers, Shayne Nyquvest, are facing a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of British Columbia from a retired woman over unauthorized discretionary trading. Heather Couillard of Calgary claims that Mr. Nyquvest bought shares of TSX Venture Exchange listing Emperor Minerals Ltd. for her account without any instructions. Mr. Nyquvest then failed to notify her of losses stemming from the trading or to mitigate them, according to the suit.
The allegations are contained in a notice of claim that Ms. Couillard filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Tuesday, Feb. 19. According to the suit, Ms. Couillard opened an account with Mr. Nyquvest in July, 2011. The account was not discretionary and Ms. Couillard expected that Mr. Nyquvest would recommend investments appropriate to her financial situation and risk tolerance.

I am sure Shayne did nothing wrong. Probably the client is unhappy that the market is down and had it been up we wouldn't be seeing this article.
