Mr. Larry Reaugh reports
AMERICAN MANGANESE REPORTS THAT LOCKED CYCLE RECOVERIES FOR COBALT AND LITHIUM APPROACH 100% AND 87% RESPECTIVELY
American Manganese Inc. has released the results of the just-completed initial locked cycle cobalt and lithium precipitation testing program performed by Kemetco Research Inc. After four cycles, the cobalt recovery in its precipitate stabilized near 100 per cent and lithium recovery in its precipitate reached 87 per cent on a continuing upward trend.
"As previously described in the company's press release of Sept. 16, 2017, these results confirm proof of concept for increasing lithium recovery with a proprietary solution recycle. This solution recycle is an important operation of our patent-pending hydrometallurgical process being developed for recycling cathode materials from spent electric vehicle lithium ion batteries," said Mr. Reaugh. "Further solution cycling should show that lithium recovery in its precipitate could exceed 95 per cent, as only small intrinsic losses (in the order of 1 to 2 per cent) due to entrainment in the cobalt precipitates and byproducts."
The company is preparing to accelerate its research and testing program to generate the results to support its full United States patent application which is expected to be filed in November, 2017.
