The TSX Venture Exchange, home to the Canadian shell sector, added six points to 948 Friday. Ron Schmeichel, currently president of three shells on the TSX-V, recently provided an update on the qualifying transaction he has found for his W 7 Acquisition Corp. (WSV), which will acquire a semiconductor designer in Toronto called ViXS Systems Inc.

Mr. Schmeichel is one of the few shell packagers with a consistent record of success. He has made a comfortable living manufacturing shells since 1996 when he listed his Newpath Capital Corp. One year after listing, Newpath completed its QT by launching website designer Cyberplex Inc. (CX: $0.075) which, like many tech companies of that period, had a remarkable run. A Newpath IPO shareholder, who paid 10 cents for his stock and was then rolled back 1:1.5 after the Cyberplex QT, could have sold at $30 in March, 2000. Mr. Schmeichel told Listed Magazine in its September, 2012, issue that the deal made him "millions and millions." He also told the magazine that the capital pool program works well in both positive and declining markets. "I always have a CPC or two in inventory -- always have and always will," he said. Since his impressive start as a shell-maker, he has also become cozy with the exchange, serving as a member of the Ontario Advisory Committee for TSX-V listings.
