The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a mediocre 47-59-133. The TSX Venture Exchange rose six points to 948 while polished diamond prices fell 0.2 per cent.
Robert Gannicott's Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC), down three cents to $15.50 on 28,000 shares, will reveal its first quarter results on June 5. The numbers should generate more interest than usual. Dominion's purchase of an 80-per-cent interest in Ekati closed in mid-April, two weeks before the end of the company's quarter. The purchase was retroactive to last June, so Dominion will report Ekati results for the full quarter, says spokesman Kelley Stamm. The Ekati numbers could overpower results from Dominion's 40-per-cent interest in Diavik. The company sells Diavik production every five weeks, resulting in two sales in some quarters and three in others. Ms. Stamm says Dominion had just two sales of Diavik diamonds in its first quarter.
