OMA's Torreon Airport Welcomes Volaris for the Inauguration of Its Route to Guadalajara

MONTERREY, Mexico, March 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (Nasdaq:OMAB) (BMV:OMA) announced the arrival of Volaris to the Torreón International Airport, with the inauguration of Volaris's Torreón-Guadalajara route.

The inauguration ceremony included the participation of Miguel Ángel Riquelme, the Mayor of Torreón; Jaime Russek, the city's director for economic development; Andreas Waldmann, strategy director for Volaris, OMA management, and other invited guests.

Volaris will offer two weekly Torreón-Guadalajara flights, on their A319 144-passenger jets, with departures on Thursdays and Sundays at 9:22 am.

"The arrival of Volaris to OMA Torreón enables us to increase the connectivity of the airport, with a direct connection to Guadalajara, Mexico's second largest city. This new route is the result of the combined efforts of OMA and Volaris, and reflects our initiatives to promote regional and business traffic," said Porfirio Gonzalez, OMA's CEO.

In 2014, the Torreón Airport served 524,000 passengers, an increase of 12.1% compared to the prior year.

On March 29, Volaris will also start operating its second route from OMA Torreón, with a one time per week flight to Tijuana. This flight departs Sundays at 10:50 pm and will connect Torreón with one of Mexico's most dynamic border cities.
