Dines refreshes his 3D Systems buy

2013-09-04 19:13 ET - In the News

James Dines, writing in the Aug. 23, 2013, issue of The Dines Letter, refreshes his buy of 3D Systems Corp. at $48.44 (all figures U.S.). The editor first recommended the stock on June 21, 2013, at $43.50. Assuming an investment of $1,000, the investment would now be worth $1,114. 3D Systems is a leading provider of 3-D content-to-print solutions. This, Mr. Dines explains, means 3-D printers, 3-D printing materials and custom-parts services for both professionals and consumers. 3D's founder, Chuck Hull, created the first working 3-D printer back in 1984, the editor says, but the company has yet to be widely recognized by the public. Revenues this year alone, he notes, could soar to more than half a billion dollars. 3D Systems sells its 3-D printers for only $1,299. Mr. Dines predicts 3-D printing will soon redefine manufacturing by eliminating the need to go shopping. For example, he says, soon he will be able to enter the word "toothbrush" into his desktop computer, and overnight single layers of atoms will be laid on top of each other to produce a toothbrush. He will no longer need to go out to buy one.
