2014-12-16 09:00 ET - News Release

Organizations work together to grant lifelong wishes for seniors and their families

ANDOVER, Mass., Dec. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) today announced Philips Lifeline's collaboration with Wish of a Lifetime (WOL), a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering respect and appreciation for seniors by granting life-enriching wishes. Together the organizations are empowering three deserving seniors to achieve their dreams by granting their greatest wishes.

Philips Lifeline

Through Philips Lifeline's work with WOL, seniors are enabled to reconnect with important loved ones, places and events from their lives. As part of the joint effort, Philips Lifeline will help bring a woman together for the first time with her pen pal of more than a decade, reunite two sisters who have been apart for 50 years, and return a World War II Veteran to his home in Puerto Rico for his 95th birthday.

"Seniors have hopes and dreams like everyone else, however for many seniors, barriers such as health, finances and living in isolation make those dreams seem unattainable. Wish of a Lifetime is excited to partner with Philips Lifeline, an organization dedicated to empowering seniors to live active, independent, connected lives, and to help break down those barriers and give deserving seniors the chance to have their lifelong wishes fulfilled," said Jillaina Wachendorf, CEO of Wish of a Lifetime. "Together we are celebrating seniors' lives and working towards a shared vision to shift how society views aging."

As part of the collaboration, Philips Lifeline will give each of the senior wish recipients a GoSafe mobile medical alert service to enable them to stay active and protected on the go. GoSafe, the new mobile personal emergency response system from Philips Lifeline, helps provide seniors with a sense of confidence to continue to get out and live life to the fullest.

"Philips Lifeline is committed to providing seniors with solutions that give them the confidence to continue to do the things they love and stay connected with the important people and places in their lives," said Kimberly O'Loughlin, General Manager for Philips Lifeline. "We're proud to work with Wish of a Lifetime in their mission to empower seniors to pursue and fulfill their dreams. We're honored to help them in their journey and fulfill their lifelong wishes."
