CALABASAS, Calif., July 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio solutions and audio enhancement technologies, today announced that the McIntosh, Sonus Faber, and Wadia brands are the latest to join the DTS Play-Fi ecosystem via a collaboration with Fine Sounds Group, a leading provider of premium audio systems and speaker products to the CE market.

Play-Fi gives listeners uncompromised quality as well as freedom and flexibility when enjoying their music. Music from one of the industry's most robust selections of sources and services can be played from a smartphone, tablet, or PC, wirelessly over an existing home WiFi network, to any number of Play-Fi connected speakers throughout the home.

"Whole-home audio over WiFi is poised to become one of the most impactful trends our industry has ever seen," stated Charlie Randall, president, Fine Sounds Group. "When it came to outfitting our products with WiFi audio functionality, we wanted to make sure that we utilized a platform that not only offered the industry's most advanced features, but delivered the highest possible quality, capable of pleasing even the most discerning of ears. Being the most widely adopted multi-room, high quality WiFi home audio ecosystem in the industry, Play-Fi was the right fit for us, and we are excited to be working with DTS to roll out our new products featuring Play-Fi connectivity later this year."

"With the Play-Fi platform's strong roster of integrated content services and flexibility to synchronize products from a wide range of leading audio brands all on one home network, Play-Fi delivers on our promise of offering the industry a platform that promotes a new competitive, yet cooperative landscape for creating connected audio products that seamlessly work together," said Dannie Lau, General Manager, Play-Fi Division, DTS.

The benefits of Play-Fi include:

  • Multi-Room, Multi-Zone, Multi-User Listening Experience – Connect multiple Play-Fi compatible audio systems into a zone and enjoy music in every room of your home, perfectly synchronized with no lag. Or, create multiple zones and stream different music to different rooms from the same device. Every user in the home can simultaneously stream from different Play-Fi enabled smartphones, tablets or PCs. Play-Fi makes it all possible.
  • Exceptional Sound Experience – Play-Fi is able to wirelessly transmit high-quality "lossless" audio, with no impact on sound quality.
  • Whole-Home Range – Play-Fi works everywhere your WiFi does, even if you're using range extenders. Play-Fi works over Ethernet, Powerline, and other IP-based networking technologies, too. No need for proprietary bridges or routers. Most homes already have everything that is needed.
  • Stream Anything, Control Everything – Stream from every music service on the planet using Play-Fi drivers for Windows and Android. Additionally, download Play-Fi apps for Android, iOS, and Kindle Fire that give you access to over 20,000 radio stations, podcasts, local music, media servers, and select cloud-based music services. Set-up, link and control all of the speakers on the network from the same streamlined interfaces.

"We believe that the numerous partners, including McIntosh, Sonus Faber and Wadia, that have joined the ever-growing roster of CE, PC, and mobile brands integrating Play-Fi, serve as validation that Play-Fi's open-ecosystem model is the answer to the industry's demand for a feature-rich whole-home WiFi audio solution," Lau continued.
