2014-04-21 17:38 ET - News Release

- Bank recognized for international banking and finance
- South Florida office opened two years ago
- International expertise sets bank apart

HOUSTON, April 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass' loan production office in Miami received the 12th annual Beacon Council Award for International Banking and Finance earlier this month.

The Beacon Council, Miami-Dade County's economic development partnership, honored 20 community leaders and businesses that have led the way in creating jobs and community investment, and providing leadership to grow their industry. The businesses honored at the annual event represented a variety of industries, including aviation, life sciences and health care.

The award comes two years after BBVA Compass, the U.S. subsidiary of global financial services firm BBVA, opened its South Florida office and grew from just 15 employees in 2012 to 34 today. The location taps BBVA's global synergies, including its leading position in Mexico and sizeable presence in Latin America.

"Our Miami team and advisory board have worked hard to develop our presence in the Miami market, which helped BBVA Compass win this coveted award," said Roberto Munoz, the bank's South Florida market president. "Miami is a hotbed of financial activity and the expertise we have as part of the BBVA Group gives us a definitive advantage in meeting the needs of our international clients."

The bank provides commercial, wealth management and international wealth management products and services from its Miami offices at 1450 Brickell Ave.
