Verizon Wireless Named Tops In Data Performance At Pittsburgh International Airport In Report By RootMetrics®

2014-10-27 09:57 ET - News Release

Study Rates Data Network at the Second Busiest Airport in Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- RootMetrics, an independent mobile analytics firm, released its fourth Pittsburgh International Airport RootScore® Report and Verizon Wireless received the highest award for data network performance.

Scores were based on RootMetrics tests performed on October 6, 2014. The core components of the report are related to reliability and speed--how reliably and quickly each network is able to download and upload data, access email, and load and view elements of a webpage or app, among others.

"This most recent study is further confirmation of our continued commitment to deliver on our brand promise of providing customers with the best network experience whether at home or on the road," said Mark Frazier, region president, Verizon Wireless. "The consistent reliability, quality and performance of our network provide a solid foundation for new technology and innovation that we will continue to deliver to our customers in the coming months and years ahead."

Verizon Wireless' super-fast 4G LTE network, the nation's largest and most reliable 4G LTE network, today covers more of the U.S. than any other wireless provider's 4G LTE network. Verizon Wireless' nationwide XLTE coverage, which doubles Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE bandwidth and provides customers with greater peak speeds, was launched in the first half of the year.

While XLTE network enhancements are invisible to the customer, the mobile experience is not. XLTE Ready devices automatically access both 700 MHz spectrum and the AWS spectrum in XLTE cities, such as Pittsburgh. XLTE adds capacity in neighborhoods or areas where demand is high, especially during busy periods like rush hour, lunch times in crowded areas or during events when mobile data use is the highest.
