DES MOINES, Iowa, Oct. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- RootMetrics, an independent mobile analytics firm, today released its fourth Des Moines RootScore^® Report and Verizon Wireless received the highest award for overall network performance in Des Moines for the fourth consecutive time. In addition to receiving the top award for overall network performance, Verizon Wireless also scored highest in the categories of Reliability, Speed, Data and Call Performance.

Scores were based on RootMetrics tests performed in October 2014. The company ranked the four major U.S. wireless providers in six categories.

Verizon Wireless' super-fast 4G LTE network, the nation's largest and most reliable 4G LTE network, today covers more of the U.S. than any other wireless provider's 4G LTE network. Verizon Wireless' nationwide XLTE coverage, which doubles Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE bandwidth and provides customers with greater peak speeds, was launched in the first half of the year.

While XLTE network enhancements are invisible to the customer, the mobile experience is not. XLTE Ready devices automatically access both 700 MHz spectrum and the AWS spectrum in XLTE cities, such as Des Moines. XLTE adds capacity in neighborhoods or areas where demand is high, especially during busy periods like rush hour, lunch times in crowded areas or during events when mobile data use is the highest.
