Practice Greenhealth Announces Philips Will Be Host Sponsor of CleanMed 2015

2014-08-19 13:23 ET - News Release

RESTON, VA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/19/14

CleanMed, the nation's premier conference on health care and sustainability, announced today that Philips is the Host Sponsor for the CleanMed 2015 conference, scheduled to be held in Portland, Oregon next spring. Last year, CleanMed drew a record 1,000 health care leaders to discuss best practices, learn from each other and preview innovative new technologies. CleanMed is convened and organized jointly each year by Practice Greenhealth and Health Care Without Harm.

Philips, a diversified technology company focused on improving people's lives through meaningful innovation and a business member of Practice Greenhealth, has been consistently involved in CleanMed over past years and has found the conference to be of great value from a number of perspectives.

"We at Philips have found the CleanMed Conference & Exhibition to be a valuable gathering of health care professionals and those who sell to the sector in existence," stated Luc Lenaerts, Senior Director, Sustainability, Philips Healthcare. "We are pleased to be able to take the next step in our journey with Practice Greenhealth by assuming this major role as Host Sponsor in CleanMed 2015."

Philips, which is headquartered in the Netherlands with operations throughout the world, has been a strong contributor to the work of Practice Greenhealth in its efforts to create sustainable environmental solutions in health care. "Philips' broad array of products and services gives them substantial reach in the sector; their contributions to sustainability are significant and will certainly grow in the future. We greatly appreciate their commitment to CleanMed," said Jeffrey Brown, Practice Greenhealth Executive Director.

Last year's CleanMed event included educational sessions and workshops on health care's most pressing sustainability issues, including: reducing toxics and chemicals of concern; sourcing and purchasing environmentally preferable medical products; providing sustainable, local food choices in hospitals; reducing energy and water use; and better waste management through recycling, reprocessing of medical instruments and smarter supply chain management.

CleanMed is held in a different city each year, and next year's conference will be held at the Portland Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. For more information, visit www.CleanMed.org.
