2015-04-25 09:00 ET - News Release

FORT WAYNE, IN -- (Marketwired) -- 04/25/15

At Franklin Electric Co., Inc. (www.franklin-electric.com) (NASDAQ: FELE), Mayor Tom Henry spoke at this morning's opening ceremonies to kick off the Indiana Ground Water Association's 2015 Spring Field Day and Mud School, serving as a continuing education forum for water well drillers, and proclaimed April 25th as "Indiana Ground Water Day" in the city of Fort Wayne.

Mayor Henry recognized the support of the Indiana Ground Water Association (IGWA) and industry leaders: Franklin Electric (manufacturer of complete water and fueling systems), GEFCO (manufacturer of portable drillings rigs) and Baroid IDP (supplier of drilling fluid additives and services) for their contributions in providing an educational event that delivered product demonstrations, the newest in mud rotary drilling utilizing solids control, and latest in water system technologies.

"It is great to have such a formidable group of companies come together to deliver a very supportive environment for professional well drillers in the ground water industry to share information and learn about technological advances that can positively impact the quantity, quality, and availability of Indiana's ground water resources," said IGWA President Troy Alexander.

Ground water provides over 39.4% of the United States population its drinking water and serves as one of the most important sources of water for irrigation. As such an important resource, events of this type help to foster cooperation between governmental agencies, communities, land owners and can identify and solve challenges associated with ground water drilling including safety and environmental requirements. Often, due to the lack of subsurface information, a limited working footprint, numerous underground utilities and possible soil contamination, drilling has become a complex operation. It requires a high degree of collaboration amongst drillers, distributors, manufacturers, associations and regulatory bodies.
