Club celebrates community by giving $40k to local nonprofits
CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- (Business Wire)
Sam’s Club will open its newest club in Cape Coral this Thursday. The
doors will officially open following an 8 a.m. grand opening ceremony at
the club located at 301 SW Pine Island Road.
The event will focus on the company’s commitment to community. In
addition to bringing more than 170 jobs to the area, the membership
warehouse club will give residents and small business owners the
opportunity to access incredible deals on quality merchandise, including
products made in Florida.
“We are so grateful for the support of our community leading up to the
grand opening,” said Club Manager Craig Canup. ”We have been preparing
for many months and look forward to providing legendary service to our
friends and neighbors.”
Sam’s Club associates selected several local organizations to receive
more than $40,000 in community giving grants. In the last fiscal year,
Sam’s Club, and parent company Walmart, gave more than $67 million to
non-profits in the state of Florida. The following local organizations
will be presented checks prior to Thursday’s grand opening:

Grand Opening ceremony features local officials, special events
Local officials, including Mayor Marni Sawicki, and members of the Cape
Coral Chamber of Commerce will be among those in attendance at
Thursday’s Grand Opening ceremony. The 22nd Recruiting and
Retention Battalion will present colors and Sam’s Club associate John
Bowlin will perform the National Anthem at the grand opening.
To add to the excitement of the grand opening, the club will host the
following celebrity appearances and autograph signing events:

Russell Shepard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver and special teamer
on Jan. 22 from 3-5 p.m.

Sammy Watkins, Florida native and Buffalo Bills wide receiver on Jan.
25 from 12-2 p.m.
Sam’s Club will showcase a variety of food samples and product
demonstrations. Special showcase events include Florida favorite Tortuga
Rum Cakes.
Free health screenings are offered monthly to both members and
the public in the Sam’s Club Pharmacy. Grand opening screenings will
assess cholesterol, blood pressure, vision, hearing and a variety of
other wellness areas, and will run Thursday, January 22 from 9 a.m. to 3
p.m., and January 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
