Textainer Group Holdings Limited (TGH)
(Textainer), the world’s largest lessor of intermodal containers based
on fleet size, today announced that it has named Alvin Chong as Vice
President and head of the Resale Division succeeding Stefan Mackula, and
promotes Anthony C. Sowry to Senior Vice President, Operations and
Acquisitions.

container sales and trading, selling up to 100,000 containers per year.

dedication and his ability to get the best out of those working with
him. He leaves Textainer a larger and stronger company.”
Mr. Chong served as Textainer’s Director of Resale for the Asia-Pacific
region. He joined Textainer in May 1995 and has more than 23 years of
experience in the shipping line and container leasing industry. Mr.
Chong has a Master of Science in Finance from the National University of
Ireland and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from La Trobe University,
Australia.

working across multiple countries and with many of our largest shipping
line customers. I have no doubt that Alvin will seamlessly and
successfully build on Stefan’s accomplishments and continue to move the
Resale Division forward,” commented Mr. Brewer.
Prior to Mr. Sowry’s promotion to Senior Vice President, he has served
as Vice President, Corporate Operations and Acquisitions since 1997. He
joined Textainer in 1982 as Fleet Quality Control Manager in Textainer’s
London office and has since been promoted to a number of executive
management positions with increasing levels of responsibility. Mr. Sowry
was educated in London and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies.

increasing levels of responsibility in the areas of operations,
container acquisitions, US military services and office/staff coverage,”

success in this global position has given Tony the type of expertise and
international experience that will continue to allow Textainer to
succeed in the management of its operations and growth of its container
