Company Sends Letter to Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson to Prevent
Bill from Becoming Law
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- (Business Wire)
Acxiom®
(NASDAQ: ACXM), an enterprise data, analytics and software-as-a-service
company, today announced the company‘s firm opposition to the Arkansas House
Bill 1228 that appears to be aimed at allowing discrimination
against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT), and other
minorities on the basis of religious beliefs.
Acxiom, one of Arkansas largest employers and a long-time supporter for
diversity in the workplace, has sent a letter today to Arkansas Governor
Asa Hutchinson outlining the dangers of the proposed bill becoming a law
as it damages the state’s economic climate and sanctions discrimination
based on sexual orientation.
“If this bill becomes law it will lead to the impairment of the rights
of some people and inflict disgrace and shame upon us all,” said Scott
Howe, CEO of Acxiom. “We believe it provides a safe harbor to encourage
discrimination and divide – this is not what Arkansas stands for or what
our country has been fighting for years. We hope the Governor will do
the right thing and veto this bill.”
