OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- (Business Wire)
Today Sprint
(NYSE:S) announced that it has been awarded the 2013 Chrysler Group
Supplier of the Year Award for extraordinary performance in innovation.
The recognition comes less than two years after Chrysler launched the
Sprint VelocitySM Connected Vehicle Platform to enable its
next generation Uconnect infotainment system. The award was presented
during the 4th Annual Strategy Meeting and Supplier Awards
Event in Auburn Hills, Mich.
Patricia Watkins, director of Global Client Management & Business
Development for Sprint Velocity, was on hand at Chrysler Group’s annual
supplier awards event to receive the award, which highlights
best-in-class capabilities in the areas of quality, delivery, cost,
warranty and partnership.
“Since launching Sprint Velocity, our main priority has been focused on
creating cutting-edge connected vehicle technology and integrating it
with Sprint’s premier wireless services,” said Peter Campbell, chief
information officer for Sprint and lead executive for Sprint Velocity.
“We are proud that the Chrysler Group has recognized our innovative work
in telematics.”
“Sprint’s collaborative approach to innovation and expertise in
subscription-based services has helped improve the overall experience of
our customers and we are pleased to have the Sprint Velocity team among
our award-winning list of suppliers,” said Al Amici, head of Global
Uconnect System and Services, Chrysler Group LLC. “With Sprint’s
best-in-class, end-to-end telematics platform, and its secure, reliable
network, we can continue our goal to enhance the ease-of-use of
technology inside our vehicles and to help create an exceptional
experience for our Chrysler Group customers.”
In 2009, the Chrysler Group placed a renewed emphasis on strengthening
its supplier relationships. The company now interacts with its suppliers
during several events throughout the year like supplier town hall
forums, focused supplier advisory councils and surveys of the supplier
base to build relationships between the Chrysler Group and its
suppliers. There has also been an increased focus on collaboration to
help drive innovation and the inclusion of supplier-created ideas and
technology. This process is designed to increase the value of the
components and improve the overall working relationship between the
Chrysler Group and its suppliers.
