Tommy, a Chihuahua and terrier mix, poses with Santa at PetSmart's annual Santa Claws(R) photo event which will be held in all stores on Dec. 7, 2013 and Dec. 14, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time. (Richard W. Rodriguez/AP Images for PetSmart)

Santa will be pulling up his sleigh at PetSmart® stores nationwide to spread holiday cheer and pose for photos with pets during the company’s annual Santa Claws Photo Event. Whether they have fur, feathers or scales, companion pets are welcome. Pet parents are asked to bring their own cameras to snap their pet’s photos with Santa in front of a special holiday photo backdrop and then make a $5 donation which will go entirely to participating local animal-welfare organizations.

Last year the Santa Claws Photo Event raised $770,225 for more than 2,300 animal welfare groups and this is the 27th year that PetSmart has held the event.
