All screenings available to the public, first screening to take place
Saturday, Jan. 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- (Business Wire)
Every January, people across the country make resolutions for the new
year focused on improving their health. Despite good intentions,
however, only eight percent of Americans actually keep up with these
resolutions.i In an effort to help more Americans keep their
health resolutions this year while easing the cost of initial necessary
tests, Sam’s Club Pharmacies nationwide will host 10 free monthly health
screenings in 2015 for members and non-members, covering a wide range of
tests to manage and discover potential health issues.
The health screenings are free, confidential and available to the public
at all Sam’s
Club locations with a pharmacy (598 locations). Since launching the
monthly health screenings in 2011, Sam’s Club has conducted nearly one
million screenings per year, providing important, personalized health
care results that help people stay informed about their well-being.
The first screening will take place on Saturday, Jan. 10 from 11 a.m. to
3 p.m., while supplies last, with a key health indicator review, valued
at $250,ii which includes the following tests:
-
Blood pressure
-
Total cholesterol
-
HDL (good cholesterol)
-
Risk ratio
-
Glucose
-
Body mass index (BMI)
-
Vision (not available at all locations)
“Offering free screenings for the fifth consecutive year is part of our
commitment to improve the lives and well-being of people in the
communities we serve,” said Jill Turner-Mitchael, senior vice president,
Sam’s Club Health and Wellness. “It’s eye-opening to hear stories about
the immediate impact of these screenings on people and how empowering it
is for them to learn more about staying healthy. We’re determined to
continue finding ways to make health care accessible.”
In addition to the January screenings, Sam’s Club Pharmacies will host
nine additional free health screenings throughout the year on the second
Saturday of each month, including:
-
February: Heart health
-
March: Staying active
-
April: Seasonal allergies
-
May: Staying fit
-
June: Men’s health
-
July: Rejuvenate your health
-
August: Latest trends in tech health
-
September: Diabetes management
-
October: Women’s health
In addition to monthly health screenings, Sam’s Club Pharmacies provide
savings and preventive care to each community they serve, such as
year-round immunizations for children and adults. Licensed pharmacists
can administer walk-in flu shots and nine other important immunizations
recommended to help protect against serious diseases like pneumonia,
shingles and whooping cough. Sam’s Club Plus members and Sam’s Club
Business members can also save 40 percent on many generics and 8 percent
on name brand prescriptions when not using prescription drug coverage.
Further, through the Extra
Value Drug List, Sam’s Club Plus members can save even more with
10-30 percent savings on select brand prescriptions and over 200
