MINNEAPOLIS -- (Business Wire)
General Mills announced today that it was named to the World’s
Best Multinational Workplaces list by the Great Place to Work®
Institute. The ranking results from the world’s largest annual study of
workplace excellence and identifies the top 25 best multinational
companies in terms of workplace culture. General Mills debuted this year
at #17 on the second-annual list.
“As our international presence has grown significantly during the past
several years, so too has our focus on globally developing the strong
culture, leadership depth and quality workplace experience that we’ve
built in the U.S. over decades,” said Mike Davis, senior vice president
of Global Human Resources for General Mills.
“We’re proud to receive this honor from Great Place to Work as a
reflection of our commitment to making General Mills a global employer
of choice,” Davis said.
The World’s Best Multinational Workplaces list is based on data from
1,800 companies that have made Great Place to Work “best companies”
country lists. To be eligible, companies must have appeared on at least
five Great Place to Work country lists, have at least 5,000 employees
worldwide and have at least 40 percent of their global workforce outside
of the company’s homeland.
In 2012, General Mills made Great Place to Work lists in Canada, France,
Greece, the U.K. and the U.S. The company has 39,000 employees
worldwide, about half of whom live outside the U.S.
General Mills employees have access to various competitive benefits,
resources and career opportunities. In particular, Great Place to Work cites
the company’s internal, global social networking site, named Connect, as
its “unique best people practice” in the company’s online profile.
“The companies listed on the second-annual World’s Best Multinational
Workplaces List are creating workplaces dedicated to fostering trust,
pride and camaraderie among their employees,” said Susan Lucas-Conwell,
global CEO of Great Place to Work. “Their inclusion on this prestigious
list demonstrates their commitment to continually improving the lives of
their employees and setting innovative new standards for workplaces of
the future.”
Since launching the first best workplaces lists in partnership with
FORTUNE magazine in the United States and Exame in Brazil in
1997, Great Place to Work now recognizes leading workplaces in 45
countries.
General Mills is the only Minnesota-based company to make the World’s
Best Multinational Companies list. The full list and related stories are available
