NEW YORK -- (Business Wire)

HTC One fans have reason to be excited today as Sprint (NYSE: S) customers are among the first to get their hands on the new HTC One (M8). The sequel to 2013’s award-winning HTC One (M7), the HTC One (M8) comes equipped with HTC BoomSound and BlinkFeed plus standout features that only Sprint can provide, including the super-high-speed network capability of Sprint Spark.

Sprint Spark is a unique combination of advanced network capabilities built for data delivering peak wireless speeds of 60Mbps today on capable devices, with the potential for speeds three times as fast by late 2015.1 It is available in 18 markets, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, and part of Sprint’s all-new 4G LTE network, which now covers 402 cities, including new markets Detroit; Rochester, N.Y.; Manchester, N.H.; and Winston-Salem, N.C. Sprint expects to cover 250 million people with 4G LTE by mid-year.

Sprint customers can purchase HTC One (M8) today at www.sprint.com or by calling 1-800-SPRINT1. With Sprint Easy Pay, well-qualified buyers can purchase HTC One (M8) with $0 down (plus tax) and 24 monthly payments of $27.09. The device will be available in Sprint retails stores beginning in early April.

“Sprint and HTC have a strong history of bringing innovative devices to our customers and we have done it again with the new HTC One (M8),” said David Owens, senior vice president of Product Development, Sprint. “Sprint will offer the new HTC One with the ability to use all three bands of 4G LTE wireless network spectrum available on the Sprint network to provide our customers an enhanced LTE experience. Additionally, with Sprint’s new Framily Plan and Easy Pay, well-qualified customers can get the new HTC One for zero down, making it easy for them to get the latest and greatest devices from Sprint without breaking the bank.”

Standout Features

HTC One (M8) boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, the latest Android 4.4 operating system, and the all-new HTC Sense 6. Additional unique features include:

  • Breakthrough Design with high-quality metal unibody flows right up to the 5-inch, full HD (1080p) display, tapering to thinner edges, with softer curves for a smooth, more natural grip.
  • Duo Camera is the world’s first smartphone that features HTC’s Duo Camera™ using the innovative HTC UltraPixel module and depth sensor, a dual flash and full 1080p HD video recording, producing incredible images in all lighting conditions and rich, high-quality video.
  • HTC BlinkFeed, a bold experience that transforms the home screen into a single live stream of personally relevant information, such as social updates, entertainment and lifestyle updates, and news and photos with immersive images so the user no longer needs separate applications to find out what’s happening.
  • HTC BoomSound technology creates an immersive, powerful, crystal-clear sound with rich tones from bass through to treble. Delivering sound that is 25 percent louderthan the HTC One (M7), without compromising quality, the HTC One (M8) has dual front-facing stereo speakers with new amplifiers, redesigned speaker chambers and a tailored audio profile.

Unique Benefits for Sprint Customers

HTC One (M8) joins the growing list of HD Voice capable mobile phone from Sprint. This new Sprint standard for mobile phones virtually eliminates background noise, and sound quality is dramatically enhanced.2 HD Voice is designed to provide a better experience than a landline. A typical phone without HD Voice offers four octaves of sound, but a phone with HD Voice offers seven (10 octaves is considered perfect hearing).

Additionally, customers will have access to the Sprint Framily Plan, a pricing program available to new and existing customers that lets them decide who they consider family. The more people added to the group, up to 10 phone lines, the greater the savings for everyone on the plan.

For one line of service, new Sprint customers pay $55 per month per line for unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data while on the Sprint network (excluding taxes and surcharges). For each additional new Sprint customer who joins the Framily group, the cost per person goes down $5 a month up to a maximum monthly discount of $30 per line. For only $20 per month per line, Sprint Framily Plan members can buy up to unlimited data while on the Sprint network, and they are eligible to get a new phone every year.

The Sprint Framily Plan is also available to small businesses. Because each account can be billed separately, the business owner and other group members can invite employees, business associates and others to join the Framily group.
