ARLINGTON, Va. -- (Business Wire)

Health Net Federal Services, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Health Net, Inc., announced today it has been awarded full reaccreditation for HIPAA Privacy from URAC. (HIPAA is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.)

“Health Net’s commitment and compliance with URAC’s stringent standards demonstrates our desire to ensure clinically sound and efficient health care services are delivered to the beneficiaries we serve,” said Billy Maynard, president of Health Net Federal Services.

Health Net Federal Services’ URAC HIPAA Privacy reaccreditation is now effective through May 1, 2018. Health Net has held URAC’s HIPAA Privacy accreditation since February 2008.

“By applying for and receiving URAC accreditation, Health Net Federal Services has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care,” said URAC President and CEO Kylanne Green. “Quality health care is crucial to our nation’s welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards and undergo rigorous evaluation by an independent accrediting body.”

About Health Net Federal Services

Health Net Federal Services has a long history of providing cost-effective, quality managed health care programs for government agencies, including the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. As the managed care support contractor for the TRICARE North Region, Health Net provides health care services to approximately 2.8 million uniformed services beneficiaries, active and retired, and their families. In addition, Health Net provides high quality, cost-effective health care solutions for veterans, as well as behavioral health services for active duty service members, veterans and their families.

Additionally, Health Net Federal Services administers the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Patient-Centered Community Care (PCCC) program in three of six regions across the United States (regions 1, 2 and 4), which includes all or portions of 37 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The PCCC program provides eligible veterans access to health care through a comprehensive network of community-based, non-VA medical professionals who meet VA quality standards when VA supplements care outside its own facilities. The program augments the VA’s ability to provide specialty inpatient and outpatient health care services, as well as behavioral health care, limited emergency care and newborn care services to enrolled veterans. The PCCC program also includes providing care to veterans through the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014 (Veterans Choice Act), either because of their lack of proximity (40-mile drive) to a VA Medical Center or clinic or because they have been unable to schedule an appointment with VA within 30 days.
