Contractor and homeowner electrical permits first to introduce new
look and mobile-friendly design
LINCOLN, Neb. -- (Business Wire)
Nebraskans looking to obtain electrical permits in their state can now
access the newly improved online services from anywhere, on any device.
The Nebraska
State Electrical Division (NSED) announced that the contractor and
homeowners’ online permit applications have migrated to the common
application template, as part of Nebraska.gov’s
initiative to migrate all of the state’s applications to the new
platform.
The common application template has many benefits that include branding,
responsive design, and state-of-the-art web features. Services follow a
similar branding pattern which creates continuity between Nebraska
applications and helps with customer confidence.
“Our contractor
and homeowner
electrical permit applications now have a fresh, polished appearance,”
said Randy Anderson, Executive Director of NSED. “We are excited to
continue enhancing the rest of our applications and carry out the
consistent look and feel Nebraska.gov has always been able to create for
us.”
As technology advances, it has become imperative to keep up-to-date with
the different devices available so that the applications not only work
well, but are easy to navigate whether you are using a PC, tablet, or
mobile phone. The common application template uses a development
framework that instinctually responds to the device you are on. In the
new development framework, there are features built into the program
that can be used rather than recreating them. This makes it possible to
get information easily to users with pop-up boxes, display information
in an organized way, and incorporate website design features that make
the application attractive and intuitive to the user.
During the process, NSED
was able to review and test out the application in its new “look”, and
offer any suggestions to the visual enhancements. The common application
template development does not involve any code changes so the agency can
be assured that current functionality will remain the same after the
update is completed.
