AUGUSTA, Maine -- (Business Wire)
Maine’s online vehicle registration renewal program, Rapid
Renewal, processed its 1,000,000th registration renewal
on June 27, 2014. The service, provided by the Department
of the Secretary of State, through its partnership with InforME,
allows Maine citizens to renew their vehicle registration from the
comfort of their living room, at work or even on the beach. The service
has gained national acclaim and has been enthusiastically embraced by
Mainers.
“Rapid Renewal began in 2001 with just 10 municipalities as pilots for
the program,” stated Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap. “Thirteen
years later the service has grown to 182 municipalities, large and
small, and processes approximately 115,000 registrations a year. Rapid
Renewal has proven itself to be the hallmark of making government
services easy for Maine people.”
To celebrate, the 1,000,000th user will get a special
recognition from Secretary of State Matt Dunlap to mark this momentous
milestone.
The Rapid Renewal service is currently offered by cities and towns from
York County to Aroostook County, with populations ranging from Glenwood
Plantation's two citizens to more than 64,000 in Portland. Through Rapid
Renewal, Maine people are able to quickly and easily renew their vehicle
registrations and pay their municipal excise taxes online, 24/7 from any
computer or mobile device
