ARLINGTON, Va. -- (Business Wire)
Launching a new partnership with the NEA Foundation, Rosetta Stone Inc.
(NYSE:RST), the leader in technology-based language-learning solutions,
joined in honoring 38 of the nation’s top educators at the NEA
Foundation’s annual Salute to Excellence in Education Gala in
Washington, DC, on February 8. This summer, the honorees will spend
extended time in Brazil as part of the NEA Foundation’s Global Learning
Fellowship Program. Rosetta Stone has provided them with the company’s
latest learning solution, TOTALe® Pro, to help them learn Portuguese in
advance of their trip.
The NEA Foundation’s Salute to Excellence in Education Gala is an annual
celebration that recognizes and promotes excellence in teaching and
advocacy for the profession through its Awards for Teaching Excellence.
Now in its third year, the fellowship program offers award recipients
the opportunity to build their competence to ensure that their students
are prepared to live and work in today’s rapidly globalizing world.
“Awards for Teaching Excellence recipients have attained the highest
standards of the profession,” said Harriet Sanford, President & CEO of
the NEA Foundation. “We are proud to acknowledge their achievements and
look forward to helping them continue to grow their knowledge by
partnering with Rosetta Stone to provide Portuguese language training.
We believe language is the road map to connecting with other cultures
and is an important element towards building global understanding.”
This year’s fellows will utilize their Portuguese language training from
Rosetta Stone on a ten-day professional development tour to Brazil.
There they will learn more about the country’s education system and
acquire the necessary skills to integrate global competence into their
classroom instruction and advance pedagogy in their schools.
Rosetta Stone provides solutions that are currently used in more than
20,000 K-12 schools, plus numerous colleges and universities worldwide.
Rosetta Stone’s solution is heralded for enabling educators to create a
blended learning approach to sustain or bolster existing language
programs.
“Recognizing and supporting educators as they prepare students for
college and beyond is a centerpiece of the NEA Foundation mission. We
share that commitment,” said Judy Verses, President, Global Institutions
at Rosetta Stone. “Together with the NEA Foundation, we hope to continue
to raise awareness of the importance of language learning by enabling
educators to experience the benefits first-hand.”
