NEW YORK -- (Business Wire)
With hearts full of joy and hope during the holiday season, Macy’s
customers wished big this year! Through the new online letter collection
component of Macy’s Believe campaign, customers were able to create and
send a digital letter to Santa to benefit Make-A-Wish while having the
opportunity to participate in Macy’s GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS official
attempt for the longest wish list to Santa. Through the overwhelming
support of customers who truly wished big this year, Macy’s set a
new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title with 121,138 wishes, beating
the previous record that was set in 2012 at 75,954
wishes. Now Macy’s official carrier of holiday happiness, Gadget the
Elf, will embark on a magical adventure from New York City to Santa’s
doorstep to deliver a 1.88-mile-long scroll filled with wishes, just in
time for Christmas Eve.
“We are so grateful for the enthusiastic support of our associates and
customers for Macy’s Believe campaign each year,” said Martine Reardon,
chief marketing officer for Macy’s. “This season, we have even more to
celebrate with our new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the longest wish
list to Santa, all made possible by the believers who submitted their
wishes as part of our Believe experience online. We invite America to
follow Gadget the Elf on macys.com/santawishlist to share his fun and
festive journey as he delivers these wishes to Santa in time for
Christmas.”
“Macy’s Great Santa Wish List Adventure”
With the longest wish list to Santa now complete, Macy’s has entrusted
the amazing journey of delivering these wishes to one of Santa’s special
elves, Gadget. By way of train, plane, sled and even a reindeer, Gadget
will face a whirlwind expedition in order to deliver children’s wishes
to Santa before Christmas Eve. People can follow his journey on
macys.com/santawishlist as he travels from New York City to Santa’s
house, making stops at iconic landmarks and spreading holiday cheer
along the way. The adventure will also come to life via Gadget’s social
media channels:
Twitter and Instagram, with the handle,
@GadgetTheElf
Facebook and YouTube, under the name, “Gadget the Elf”
Macy’s Believe Campaign
This year marks the seventh annual Macy’s Believe campaign, which
invites customers to share in the season’s spirit of goodwill and
generosity. Customers still have time to participate in Macy’s signature
letter writing program that benefits Make-A-Wish. Through Dec. 24,
customers can visit their local Macy’s store to drop their stamped
letters, addressed to “Santa at the North Pole,” into special Santa Mail
letterboxes or create a letter online to send to Santa at
macys.com/believe. For each letter collected in-store and online, Macy’s
will donate $1, up to $1 million, to Make-A-Wish, helping to grant the
wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Since the
program began in 2008, it has raised more than $8.7 million to benefit
Make-A-Wish.
