Mississippi
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) holders now have a convenient way
to upload their medical card and complete their certification thanks to
the Department
of Public Safety’s new application. The CDL
Medical Card Submission Application allows CDL licensees to
electronically submit their medical card online or on their mobile
device. This efficient certification application
eliminates the need for a paper application and travel required to
present the card in person.
Driver Services Bureau Director, Major Chris Gillard, noted, “Many CDL
drivers are on the road weeks at a time and find it difficult to present
their medical card in person, annually. This mobile-optimized
application accepts images from traditional PC uploads or mobile photo
albums and cameras, allowing drivers to submit their cards at anytime,
from anywhere.”
Users of the secure online service need only to provide their CDL
information, including name and date of birth, to get started. The
intuitive form electronically collects few quick questions to accompany
the uploaded medical card and within minutes drivers are finished and
back on the road.
“The Department of Public Safety recognized a need for an efficient and
convenient process for CDL holders to submit their medical card and
complete their annual certification,” said Kenneth Magee, DPS deputy
administrator. “This mobile service is available 24/7 and is an example
of how DPS is dedicated to bringing new services and online solutions to
our commercial drivers.”
