BigBand partners with CLAdirect to enable bandwidth-efficient, high
quality video services
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- (Business Wire)
BigBand Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:BBND), today announced that CPE Santa
Rosa, a service provider in Argentina, has deployed the BigBand
Broadband Multimedia-Service Router 1200 (BMR®) to upgrade its network
to deliver video services with the highest degree of reliability and
quality viewing experience. BigBand partnered with CLAdirect, a proven
distributor of IP networking solutions in Latin America and the
Caribbean markets, to architect and deploy the digital migration
solution.
“BigBand provided the level of professionalism and technical expertise
essential to meeting our time to market requirements to expand our
channel line-up and be more competitive,” said Professor Oscar Nocetti,
President of CPE Santa Rosa. “The BigBand BMR platform enables us to
convert to an all-digital environment, so we can provide our subscribers
with an exciting expansion of quality programming content. We selected
the BigBand BMR because the platform is reliable, scalable and
easy-to-use, and because of BigBand's track record of world-class field
engineering support.”
The BigBand BMR1200 is a robust platform designed from the ground up to
be carrier-class and offer five 9's availability. It’s field-proven,
having been deployed by over 200 service providers worldwide, including
8 of the top 10 Multiple System Operators (MSOs) in North America, and
in over 5,000 installations. It is designed to support a variety of
applications including digital simulcast, digital TV management, digital
ad insertion, HDTV and switched digital video (SDV). Offering a rich
array of bandwidth management functionality, the BMR can help speed the
migration from broadcast to IP video-based services and to
cost-effectively scale from hundreds of subscribers to millions.
"The BigBand BMR is one of the most widely-deployed, versatile digital
video networking platforms in the world and its selection by CPE Santa
Rosa underscores the platform's reliability," said Ricardo La Guardia,
Senior Director of Sales for Latin America at BigBand. "Being able to
help our customers stay ahead of the competition by rapidly expanding
their service offerings is a huge asset. Increasingly, consumers in
Latin America are demanding video anywhere, anytime, on any device. We
believe our solutions, combined with our partnership with CLAdirect,
strengthen our value proposition in Latin America to support the digital
and IP migration in this region.”
