The Center for Digital Government announced winners of its Best of the
Web Awards, honoring city, county, state, federal, and international
websites and applications from all levels of government. The newly
redesigned Nebraska state website was awarded a Best of the Web Award
for innovation, functionality, productivity, and performance, noting the
responsive and mobile-first design, open government, open data, and
improved transparency. Boasting a score of 99 out of 100 for usability
and emphasizing clean graphics and cutting edge technology, Nebraska.gov
also includes an introductory
video to orient new users.
The Governor of Nebraska, Pete Ricketts stated, “We are very pleased
with the redesign of our state website and are honored it has garnered
this coveted award. This redesign helps state government be more
customer-friendly to Nebraskans wherever they are.”
The state of Nebraska website features scenic background videos from
around the state on the http://www.nebraska.gov
homepage. Front and center, the search box allows users to access
information producing optimized results through configurations,
labeling, and tagging. The All State Services and All State Agencies
pages quickly sort producing instant results highlighted in yellow. The
drop down navigation features pertinent images and content commonly
used, and the homepage tiles sections are organized by categories and
informed by google analytics.
