WAYZATA, Minn. -- (Business Wire)
TCF Bank today awards Sierra High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. a
$1,000 donation for its football program. Sierra High School will
receive the $1,000 donation from TCF Bank tonight, Friday, October 31,
during halftime at the Stallions home football game at Veteran’s
Memorial Stadium. The game starts at 7 p.m.
Sierra High School was nominated for the award by school alumnus, Andrew
“Wayne” Mumford, in the TCF Bank High School Grid Iron Sweepstakes that
ran at TCF branches from September 13 to 30.
“Mr. Mumford’s pride and enthusiasm for his hometown team were evident
in his nomination as was his great sense of community surrounding Sierra
High School,” said Mark Jeter, Managing Director, Branch Banking for
TCF. “We’re proud to recognize the school, its passionate fan base and
the coaching staff for their great work with young people.”
Sierra High School Athletic Director Brian Petzold added: “With the
hiring of the new football coach, Phil Jackson, who received
all-American, first-team and all-state honors in high school, our
football program is more popular than it has been in years. The
resulting increase in student interest has depleted our supplies and
equipment. This donation from TCF Bank will help our school buy new and
safer equipment for our players and help ensure that all students who
want to be a part of our football program can be and will be properly
equipped.”
TCF Bank is committed to building a better community through programs
that seek to benefit students, whether through academics or athletics.
TCF Bank also continues to support high school education by offering
free financial education courses in more than 200 high schools in the
markets it serves to help students make smarter financial decisions.
