LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- (Business Wire)
The last day for Arkansans to assess cars, boats and other personal
property without a late penalty is Tuesday, May 31. With the statewide
deadline less than two weeks away, now is the perfect time for Arkansans
to use Gov2Go
to take care of their assessment and get reminders for other important
government deadlines throughout the year.
Gov2Go
is an award-winning “digital government assistant” that tracks
Arkansans’ assessment, property tax, vehicle registration renewal and
franchise tax deadlines. When a due date is approaching, Gov2Go sends
personalized reminders and lets users take care of it all in one place
on their favorite devices. The app is free and available for iPhone
and Android
smartphones, Apple Watch and on the web
at www.getgov2go.com.
It is important for Arkansans to assess on time to avoid paying a 10%
penalty on their property tax bill and to streamline their car tag
renewal process by enabling them to renew quickly online. Arkansas law
requires drivers to assess their vehicles, pay property taxes and have
current insurance before they can renew their registration. Roughly, 30
percent of Arkansas drivers who attempt to renew their vehicle
registration online each year cannot complete their renewal until they
assess. These drivers often end up visiting a revenue office to assess
and renew in person.
“I encourage all Arkansans, especially anyone who has ever forgotten to
assess, to get Gov2Go and experience government in a simple, proactive
and personalized way,” Information Network of Arkansas Board Chair and
Secretary of State Mark Martin said. “This new technology makes it easy
to take care of the things we have to do every year and melts away the
stress of remembering when, how, and where to do them. Gov2Go is
starting to take the burden of regulatory compliance off of Arkansans by
delivering key government services to them, at the right time, on their
mobile phones.”
Gov2Go is the first citizen-centric digital government platform in the
nation. The
Information Network of Arkansas, the state’s official digital
government services provider, developed and released a beta version in
2015 and is continuously releasing new services and features based on
user feedback. The app has received international recognition for its
new, proactive approach to delivering personalized government services,
including a 2016 StateScoop 50 State Innovation of the Year Award, top
eight placement in the American Council for Technology and Industry
Advisory Council’s (ACT-IAC) Igniting Innovation 2016 Awards, finalist
in the Amazon Web Services 2015 City on a Cloud competition, and First
Place with Arkansas.gov in the Center for Digital Government 2015 Best
of the Web awards competition.
