ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- (Business Wire)
As therenewal deadline of June 30, 2016, is approaching for
pesticide business and employee licenses, certificates, and permits, the
state of Maryland encourages online renewal through the Maryland
Department of Agriculture (MDA) Pesticides
Licensing and Certification Renewal Service.
This service accepts all major credit cards and is available 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week. Businesses can access the renewal service online
through the state’s official website, www.maryland.gov,
or through MDA’s website, www.mda.maryland.gov.
The Maryland Department of Agriculture recently mailed renewal postcards
to all businesses with active licenses. Last year, over 81 percent of
renewals were conducted online. Prior to the online application, it
could take up to three months to complete a renewal. With the online
application, that time has been reduced to five days creating
significant time savings, efficiency gains, and overall satisfaction
with the simplified renewal method.
“The effort put forth to make pesticide renewal simpler was well worth
it,” said MDA Pesticide Regulation Program Manager Dennis Howard. “We
couldn’t be more pleased with the number of online renewals processed
and the positive feedback received by our customers. We continue to
strive to offer tools that are effective and convenient.”
Businesses begin the simplified renewal process by entering their
license number, license type, and the code provided by MDA on the post
card. Pesticide applicators, technicians, and consultants associated
with the business are displayed for the user to provide the requested
contact information and recertification requirements. Once payment is
made, and approved by MDA Administration, the business license and
applicator certificates are displayed for printing and can also be
reprinted at any time from the online system.
A list of MDA approved recertification courses, required for pesticide
businesses and applicators to remain certified, are available online
through a public search. New recertification courses for pesticide
safety, environmental concerns, pest biology, control techniques, and
disposal can also be submitted to the MDA for approval through this new
system.
The following public searches are also available through the online
system:
-
Certified Pesticide Businesses – Businesses providing pesticides or
pest control services to the public
-
Certified Pesticide Applicators – Individuals providing pesticides or
pest control services to the public
-
Licensed Pesticide Dealers – Businesses providing pesticides to other
businesses
