DES MOINES, Iowa -- (Business Wire)

The State of Iowa has signed a new long-term contract with Iowa Interactive, LLC to provide eGovernment services through the state’s official Web portal (http://www.iowa.gov). The contract includes an initial two-year term with renewal options that the state can exercise taking the contract through June 2020.

Des Moines-based Iowa Interactive will continue to provide eGovernment services using a transaction-funded solution. This model provides eGovernment services to the state without the use of appropriated taxpayer budget dollars.

“The State of Iowa is constantly looking for ways to bring more efficiency to its citizens and businesses,” said Robert von Wolffradt, State of Iowa Chief Information Officer. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with Iowa Interactive as together we deliver more great eGovernment services in the future.”

Iowa Interactive, part of the NIC Inc. (NASDAQ: EGOV) family of companies, has developed several eGovernment services, websites, and mobile applications for the state during its 17-year partnership, including the Android multi-lingual driver license practice test, and the various online conference registrations for the Governor’s anti-bullying and teacher leadership efforts.

“We appreciate the continued confidence in NIC by the State of Iowa,” said Harry Herington, NIC Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. “Each and every day our employees in Des Moines go to work with a single focus – to make government more accessible and efficient for the citizens and businesses in the great State of Iowa.”

The state issued a solicitation for eGovernment services and subsequently awarded the contract to Iowa Interactive. The new contract went into effect July 1, 2014 and was approved by the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
