Interactive, in collaboration with the Alabama
Department of Revenue, has recently developed an online application
that makes it easier than ever to look
up Alabama sales tax rates. This new,
free service allows citizens and businesses to find the state,
county, and city tax rates for any street address located in Alabama.
Users can do it quickly and easily on the go from any device – PC,
tablet, phone, etc. The site automatically adjusts to fit the size of
the user’s screen, providing the best user experience possible.
“There are more than 400 cities and 66 counties charging different tax
rates, and it has become increasingly difficult for anyone to have a
thorough understanding of how much tax to collect when delivering items
after a purchase,” said State Revenue Commissioner Julie Magee. “We
commissioned this free, reliable application to help businesses
instantly compute the correct tax owed when making a delivery into a
local jurisdiction at any time. While we have taken numerous steps to
ensure the data is accurate, we have plans to protect any business owner
who may use the app and receive an incorrect amount by asking the
legislature to pass a hold harmless law next session. We expect they
would support this business-friendly measure.”
