New discounts include prescriptions at no charge, $4 and $10
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- (Business Wire)
Sam’s Club today announced the launch of an expanded prescription
savings program that enables Plus™ and Business Plus members to save
even more money through new benefits. New savings on generic
prescriptions, some of which are available free of charge or at a
discounted cost of $4 or $10 at specified quantities, are now available
in all Sam’s Club locations with pharmacies1. This new
benefit is part of Sam’s Club Extra
Value Drug List (EVDL), through which Sam’s Club Plus and Business
Plus members also receive 10-30 percent savings on select brand name
medications.
As a result of the expanded prescription savings program for Sam’s Club
Plus members, five generic prescriptions at specified quantities are
available for free in 35 states. These medications are indicated for
treatment of Alzheimer’s, diabetes and men’s/women’s health disease
states, and include Donepezil, Vitamin D 50,000IU, Pioglitazone,
Finasteride and Escitalopram. In addition, more than 200 generic
prescriptions in specified quantities are available for $4 and over 400
generic prescriptions are available for $10 every day in all club
locations with a pharmacy. This pricing is available to all eligible
Plus members who opt to use the Plus discount only.
“Sam’s Club is always looking for ways to help improve the health of our
communities and provide exceptional value to our members,” said Jill
Turner-Mitchael, senior vice president, Sam’s Club Health and Wellness.
“That’s why we created an extensive list of prescriptions to offer at
substantial savings to our Plus and Business Plus members, especially
those who are under or uninsured. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to
making health care more accessible and affordable.”
Members with an active Plus membership can use the prescription discount
benefit by presenting their Plus membership card along with a valid
prescription at participating Sam’s Club pharmacies. Many other health
and wellness benefits are available to Plus members, including up to 40
percent savings on certain generic prescriptions and up to eight percent
on name brand prescriptions that are not part of the EVDL program when
paying without insurance, $50 off frames with the purchase of a year’s
supply of contact lenses, and eight percent off pet medications. For
