The state of Alabama received international recognition for their
website, Alabama.gov.
The website received a Silver award in the Government Agency category
from the Horizon Interactive Awards. The Awards program is a leading
international interactive media awards competition that highlights the
year’s “best of the best” in interactive media production.
“It is an honor to be selected as a first-time recipient of a Horizon
Interactive award,” said Mason Tanaka, Assistant Secretary of
Information Technology and Acting ISD Director. “We continually look for
new and innovative ways to inform citizens as well as showcase the many
services our state offers.”
Alabama.gov
is the official government Web portal for the State of Alabama. Some of
the newer enhancements to its design include:
- Re-organized content grouping
- Sleek and navigable design
- Enhanced menu options
- Updated social media portal
The awards are selected by an international panel of industry
professionals that evaluate categories ranging from online advertising
to mobile applications. The 2015 winning entries showcase the industry’s
best interactive media solutions including websites, mobile
applications, print media, interactive displays, public exhibits, online
advertising, video, email and more.
The Alabama.gov
website was redesigned at no cost to taxpayers through Alabama
Interactive’s partnership with the state. The partnership allows the
company to provide digital government applications and services to state
agencies, boards, commissions, political subdivisions, local government
agencies and quasi-government agencies within the state of Alabama.
Alabama Interactive works with more than 60 state agencies, and manages
more than 250 online applications through a self-funded model.
