Idaho has debuted an online service at www.idaho.gov/parcels
that makes obtaining parcel data for Idaho counties more convenient and
flexible.
The service provides one-stop access to county parcel data sets and
instantly delivers information via electronic file downloads. As a
result, correct and standardized parcel information is sent to pertinent
users without the need for frequent visits or calls to county offices.
Users can choose from two types of parcel standard downloads: public
and comprehensive.
Public parcel downloads include seven basic data fields, such as parcel
unique identifier, date shared, and date that the polygon geometry was
last updated. Comprehensive parcel downloads feature the same
information as the public downloads plus 47 more data fields, including
property descriptions, total assessed value, and value by category.
Public file downloads are free. Comprehensive files are $4 each, which
can be paid electronically with a credit or debit card. The
comprehensive download fee supports the service at no cost to taxpayers.
The fee is not collected by the counties, however counties may add an
additional fee at their discretion.
Data files are updated at least every six months, marked with the most
recent upload date, and are available for use up to one year after being
downloaded. GIS software is needed to read the files.
Data can be used for planning, emergency response, county assistance,
economic development, business promotion, citizen notification of events
in their area, land use/planning, transportation planning, and more.
All downloads require an Access Idaho login, which is free and can be
set up quickly upon first use.
Access Idaho developed the service in conjunction with the State
of Idaho Geospatial Office and counties throughout the Gem State.
“In addition to illustrating the advantages of our public-private
partnership with Access Idaho, this project was a great example of a
successful partnership between state and county government,” said Bill
Farnsworth, Enterprise Applications & Support Manager for the Idaho Office
of the CIO.
