RICHMOND, Va. -- (Business Wire)
Stafford County, Virginia Treasurer’s Office was recently honored with
the prestigious Governor's
Technology Award for its myStafford
Citizen Portal. The coveted award is the highest honor bestowed by
the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizing successful public sector
information technology projects that improve government service delivery
and efficiency.
“Now more than ever, we need to understand how our citizens are using
technology and collaborate effectively across government to serve them,”
said Laura Rudy, Stafford County Treasurer. “We’ve worked hard tobring
the myStafford Citizen Portal to life, and we are continuing to work
hard to bring new features and payment types to the solution.”
Lead by the Stafford County Treasurer’s Office, in partnership with
Stafford County Department of Utilities and Virginia
Interactive, the project team collaborated to launch the new
innovative myStafford Citizen Portal, an online e-billing and payment
solution. The myStafford
Citizen Portal simplifies the user experience by offering payment
and management of various accounts from a single convenient website,
regardless of the originating office or department. Scalable and
flexible, the Portal is a model solution for other local governments
delivering citizen-centric service at its best.
Citizens can view and pay their bills online 24/7, and receive email
notifications when new bills are available. The portal is a next
generation solution that was designed to keep pace with changing social
habits, shifting demographics, evolving citizen demands, and emerging
technologies. Additional key features include:
-
Secure account creation for facilitating future transactions
-
Enrollment in electronic notifications and go green e-billing
-
Downloadable and printable bills
-
Billing and payment history
-
Ability to update billing address and phone number
-
Secure, credit card and e-check payment options
-
One-time payments (citizens who choose not to establish an online
account)
-
Option to donate to the Stafford Safety Net program
-
Robust administrative and reporting tools for the County
Launched in August 2013, the myStafford Citizen Portal was quickly
adopted by over 9,000 citizens with more than 84,000 bills paid to date.
Over 3,400 users also elected for e-billing resulting in immediate cost
savings from reduced production and distribution of printed bills, and
fewer manual payments processed.
