JACKSON, Miss. -- (Business Wire)
The State of Mississippi’s award-winning website
has been nationally recognized again for excellence in interactive
media. Ms.gov
was recently honored with the Interactive Media Awards (IMA) Best In
Class Award and the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts W3 Award.
These mark the third and fourth awards the innovative, mobile-oriented
site has received this year.
“The State of Mississippi’s website was chosen out of thousands of
entries for these highly sought-after awards,” said Dr. Craig Orgeron,
CIO and Executive Director of Mississippi Information Technology
Services. “To be recognized on the national level for providing our
citizens with a best-in-class design and supreme usability is something
we are very proud of.”
The award-winning redesign of ms.gov has delivered a new standard to
Mississippi. With citizen-focused design and increased mobility, ms.gov
is dramatically improving how citizens interact with the state. The
latest version of ms.gov is packed with features including:
-
Adaptive and responsive mobile design
-
Browser based push notifications for alerts and news
-
GeoIP mapping technology
-
Flickr showcase
-
User focused content
-
Accessibility for all users
Award entries for both the IMA and W3 awards undergo rigorous
testing and points-based comprehensive judging processes. Work is judged
on design, creativity, usability, navigation, functionality, visual
design and ease of use. These competitions receive thousands of entries
from all over the world, of which only a small percentage are honored.
This is ms.gov’s third consecutive IMA Best of Class and second
consecutive W3 award.
Under the self-funded model of Mississippi’s eGovernment partner,
Mississippi Interactive (MSI), ms.gov’s redesign was completed at no
cost to the state or citizens. To date, the design, maintenance and
customer support efforts of ms.gov are valued at over $500,000. For a
