BOISE, Idaho -- (Business Wire)

The Idaho cities of Dubois, Plummer, Kamiah, Notus, Montpelier and Hagerman are accepting credit and debit cards for utility payments. Residents of all six municipalities can make payments in person at their respective city clerk offices. Four of the cities—Dubois, Plummer, Kamiah, and Montpelier—offer online payments through their city websites as well.

“We have been receiving requests for this service for a long time, and are very pleased to have finally stepped into the 21st century,” Lisa Shenton, Dubois City Clerk said. “It has been very convenient for our customers.”

Five of the six cities offer the payment service for utility payments only, but the City of Kamiah also added the ability to pay for ambulance fees. “This new payment service provides a handy option for customers to pay their utility or ambulance bills online or in person,” Ken Law, Kamiah City Clerk said. “Customers can now pay for a variety of services online without having to drive to the clerk’s or ambulance office.”

The cities accept any credit or debit card displaying a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express logo.

Each city partnered with Access Idaho to provide the payment processing service, PayPort. The partnership operates under a self-funded model in which no tax dollars or county funds were used to develop and none are necessary to maintain the service.

Access Idaho’s PayPort service now processes electronic payments for 34 municipalities throughout the Gem State. In addition to PayPort, Access Idaho manages the state’s official Web portal, idaho.gov, and specializes in electronic government applications.
