FRANKFORT, Ky. -- (Business Wire)
Laurel County, Kentucky, CSEPP has launched a new, mobile-ready site
for its Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP), aimed
at educating and enhancing emergency preparedness in the event of a
chemical agent accident. Laurel County, Kentucky, is one of 10 Kentucky
counties that neighbors the chemical stockpile stored at the Bluegrass
Army Depot. Laurel County is considered to be one of two host counties
for relocation, in the event of a chemical agent accident at the
Bluegrass Army Depot.
The site provides CSEPP county contacts, instructions on what to do in
the event of an emergency and family preparedness information.
“Placing emergency preparedness in the palm of a citizen’s hand was the
primary goal of this site update,” said Brad Smith, Director of the
Laurel County CSEPP. “In addition, the site’s content structure allows
citizens to find the information they are seeking in the most efficient
manner.”
The site was developed for the Laurel County CSEPP through their
public-private partnership with Frankfort-based Kentucky Interactive,
LLC.
About CSEPP
CSEPP was created in 1985, when Congress passed a law directing the
United States Army to dispose of its aging chemical weapons inventory,
with maximum protection of residents and the environment as its primary
consideration. It began operation in 1988.
